The non-profit Roland Gräfe Foundation - Foundation for Art and Culture regularly initiates pleinairs, graphic workshops, awards an art prize at regular intervals and supports non-profit cultural projects.

With the binational plein air, we also follow the idea of reconciliation with our European neighbours as laid down in our statutes.

In 2019, the first part of the project "Pleinair Painting - Bridges over troubled water" took place in Dresden with German and Czech art students. Now we would like to paint together with students from the HfBK Dresden and the Prague University of Fine Arts (AVU) for three days in June as the second part of this project in Prague on the Vltava River. The number of students will be limited to 6 students. In September 2022, the works created during the pleinair will be presented to the public in an exhibition at the Permanent Representation of the Free State of Saxony in Prague.

The Foundation will provide canvases in various formats from 50x70 to 70x100. The artists bring the painting materials and a field easel with them. Quick-drying paints (e.g. acrylic) should be used.

The publication of an accompanying booklet is planned. Accommodation and travel for the German students will be covered by the Foundation.
